Jean Elizabeth McQueen Cox: Ocean Isle Beach

1937 – 2024

     Jean Elizabeth McQueen Cox of Ocean Isle Beach died Friday, May 10. She was 86.

     Born in Horry County on July 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Arthur McQueen and Mary Pinson McQueen.

     She was formerly a member of the Ladies and Bridge Clubs, of Goldsboro; a Master Gardener, Sunday School teacher and was active in the Autumn Care of Shallotte Activities Ministry. Jean loved her family with all her heart. She demonstrated her strong Christian faith by the examples she set in her daily life. Her “happy “place was at her beach home surrounded by beautiful flowers.

     Surviving are her husband Willard T. “Bill” Cox; son Michael Cox (Gerri), of Shallotte; daughters Melinda Howell (Tony), of Wilmington and Rhonda Morgan, of Sunset Beach; a brother, Arthur McQueen, Jr. (Jayne), of Spartanburg; sisters Agnes Lee of Ash and Mary Brogdon (Tommy), of Loris; grandchildren Matt (Tess), Meredith (Brett), Shelby (Michael) and Brian; great-grandchildren Marleigh, Thomas, Scarlett, Olivia, and one on the way Laney.

     Family would like to extend a special thank you to long term caregivers, Glena Moses and Linda Smith; and the ladies of Heartful Hearts In Home Care (Kysha, Shannon and Danielle.)

     Funeral Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte. Burial followed in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
