Sammy Lee Thompson: Whiteville

1966 – 2025

     Sammy Lee “Handyman” Thompson of Whiteville died Sunday, Nov. 16, in his home. He was 59.

     Born Aug. 15, 1966 in Horry County, He was the son of the late A.Z. Thompson and Shirley Ann Gore Thompson.

     He is survived by two sons, Samuel O’Neil Thompson of Whiteville and Robert Daniel Thompson of Nichols; a brother, Danny Thompson of Clarendon; three sisters, Annetta Cartrette of Loris, Sandra Nealey of Tabor City, and Sherry Creech of Whiteville; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Lavern Thompson; and a sister, Kathy Lynn Thompson.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery, Loris.
