Anthony Dyrell Hill: Tabor City
1953 – 2026
Anthony Dyrell Hill of Tabor City passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, in his home. He was 72.
Born June 25, 1953 in Marion, he was the son of the late Odell Hill and Doris Kay Hammond Hill.
Dyrell owned and operated two auto parts stores and machine shops alongside his family. Dyrells Auto Supply in Tabor City since 1975 and Auto Parts Express in Whiteville since 2002. He was passionate about the business he built with his family and had a true love for drag racing. For many years he enjoyed the thrill of building and driving his own race cars. After nearly 30 years of his race cars being in storage, his son, grandson and son-in-law have followed in his footsteps and rekindled the love he had for drag racing.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years (April 25, 1976) Gwen Cartrette Hill with whom he was not only married to but worked beside daily in the family business; two daughters Andreau Wingate of Little River and Natasha Long (John) of Clarendon; one son, Zack Hill (Tanya) of Tabor City; three grandchildren, Dayton Long (Leah Brooke), Emily Wingate and Jaden Long; one great granddaughter, Saylor Grace Long; and one sister, Melanie Fowler (Ricky) of Clarendon.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in the Sandy Plain Church Cemetery.
