Adeline J. Buffkin: Loris

1923 – 2017

     Adeline J. Buffkin of Loris went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22. She was 93.

     Mrs. Buffkin passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living in Lexington where she resided for the past two and a half years.

     Mrs. Buffkin was born July 13, 1923 the daughter of the late George “Pappy” Jannette and the late Ella Jannette.

     Mrs. Buffkin was a first generation American. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Dunn at an early age. She graduated from Dunn High School in 1939 and went to work at Fort Bragg. After that, she went to work for Johnson Cotton Company and met the love of her life, “Edwin”. She was also an office manager for Jerry Cox Company in Conway.

     Survivors include her daughters, Charisse Buffkin Phillips and husband, Dusty of Lexington, South Carolina, and Rose Mary Coffey and husband, David of Welcome; daughter-in-law, Susan Buffkin of Lexington, North Carolina and five loving grandchildren, Duston Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Jason Buffkin, Stephen Campbell and Erin Coffey.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buffkin was predeceased by her husband, Edwin L. Buffkin, Sr.; her son, Edwin “Lee” Buffkin, Jr.; brother, Edward Jannette and sister, Helen J. Avent.

     The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Brookdale Assisted Living in Lexington and Tidewater Hospice for their kindness, help and support during this difficult time.

     A prayer service was held at 12 noon on Monday, June 26 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Deacon Jim Collins officiating.
