Edgar Tilmon Gattis: Conway
1934 – 2017
Edgar Tilmon Gattis passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, at his home in Conway. He was 82.
Born Sept. 9, 1934 in Rockingham, he was the son of the late Marvin Lee Gattis and the late Daisy Jordan Gattis.
Mr. Gattis served his country with courage, honor and distinction in the United States Navy. After the Navy, Mr. Gattis worked as a brick mason and contractor and was a longtime member of New Home Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lois Lee Gattis of the home; a son, Jamie E. Gattis and wife, Angie of Conway; two grandchildren, Gentry Cannon and husband, Jeremy and Peyton Gattis; a great-grandson, Sawyer Cannon; brother, Carrol Gattis of Longs; and four sisters, Willa May Drew and husband, William of Conway, Etta Jean Kalb of Huntington Beach, California, Carthinia Lee and husband, James of Nichols, and Judy Williamson and husband, Bailey of Evergreen.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gattis was predeceased by one brother, Carl Gattis and one sister, Juanita Harris.
Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at New Home Baptist Church with Pastor Myron Pritchard and Reverend David Watts officiating. Committal services were to be private.
Family planned to receive friends from 1:30 until time of the service on Sunday, Sept. 3.
