David Paul Johnson: Nakina

1935 – 2017

     David Paul Johnson of Nakina, died Wednesday, March 22, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter, Whiteville. He was 81.
     Born July 3, 1935 in New York City, he was the son of the late Donald Clyde and Violet Gilbert Johnson and the widower of Delma Rae Ward Johnson.
     He is survived by two sons, Timothy Paul Johnson of Lemoore, California and Ronald Tracy Johnson of Millington, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
     In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Vicki Renee Kern.
     Mr. Johnson retired from 30 years in the United States Navy at the rank of CWO-4.
     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, with burial following in Ward Cemetery, Mooney Ford Road, Nakina.
     Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the chapel.
