Orilla Branton Thompson: Loris

1926 – 2017

     Orilla Branton Thompson of Loris passed away Tuesday, May 9. She was 90.
     Mrs. Thompson was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Lemuel Onen and Cora Orilla Cook Todd.  She was the oldest living member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She retired from Loris Hospital after 25 years as a Nursing Assistant.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her first husband, Ivey L. Branton; her second husband, Neal Thompson; three brothers, Talmadge Todd, Earlie Todd, and J. R. Todd; and five sisters, Vera Causey, Estelle Todd, Susie Mae Prince, Annie Lee Lanier, and Mary Lou Paul.
    Survivors include two sons, Dennis Branton of Niceville, Florida, and Bryan Branton of Loris; two daughters, Fran Craymer of Montgomery, Alabama, and Betty Courtney of Loris; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Caines officiating, burial following in Twin City Memorial Gardens.
